ABOUT TAMANA MOUNTAIN CHOCOLATE

Tamana Mountain Chocolates Estate is a family-run business in the central region of Trinidad and Tobago that is involved in the cocoa business since 2017 when the family purchased a mature cocoa estate comprising 10 acres of Trinitario Cocoa trees. Martin and Jacqueline Matthew, together with their children Megan, Oshun, and Sari produce artisanal cocoa products from bean-to-bar and share their knowledge about cocoa cultivation, cocoa processing, and chocolate-making on one of their well-visited tours. Their cocoa products have been judged among the best in the world, winning awards at the 2019 International Cocoa Awards and a joint award in the prestigious Cocoa of Excellence as part of the Four Roads Tamana Cluster. 

 

Tamana is located in the central area of Trinidad and is considered an important area for cocoa cultivation. There are many active and abandoned cocoa estates scattered across the region that provide a glimpse into the importance of Tamana’s role in the local cocoa industry.
